The Conviction of The Holy Spirit

🌟 Remarks

The Holy Spirit is able to convict us of many things. Being God’s own spirit, the Holy Spirit knows each of us more than anyone else ever could. Being conveyed by the Holy Spirit is one of the things we will experience in life when we approach ourselves to God. Being sinful and weak we expose our vulnerability to God’s dangerous Holiness. Dangerous for we entangled in sin will be destroyed together with it. Just like when dry grass is brought close to a fire. In a distance it will become warm and close enough it will catch on the flame and perish. So will we be if we being entangled with dry grass (sin) approaching God.

God’a Holiness can be depicted in many ways. When Job has an encounter with God, He came in the form of a whirlwind. When God met Saul on his trip, He took on the form of a beam of light. And when God met Moses He let Moses see Him as He is, only for a brief moment though, lest he perish. Now you all know what happens if you are close to a fire. Not only do you see its light, you also feel its heat, move closer and your skin will start to itch, even closer those itch turn into pricking needles and close enough you will burn.

Now having being rational and right minded, one will stop approaching that fire as soon as he feels that pain on the skin. That is the Holy Spirit, the radiating heat from God’s Holiness is teh depiction of the Holy Spirit. He is able to warn us, to tell us and to remind us of our sin, our flammability and vulnerability to His holiness. In real life, when we approach God, we will first encounter His Holy Presence, His Holy Spirit. Just like the disciples when the gather in the upper room to pray, they encounter the Holy spirit which lands on their head like flames of fire.

Acts 2:2-4 (UKJV) And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, (o. pneuma) and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit (o. pneuma) gave them utterance.

🌟 Relevancy

The Holy Spirit is able of convey us many things about ourselves. For me it is how lacking in integrity I am. I consider myself sharp in judgement, I can know what person is like just by looking at them and probably having a short conversation, I consider myself able to see the faults in others more critically than they themselves can. All of those are my on perception on me, it all soon change once the Holy Spirit convey me through my own actions and the word of others.

A important person in my life once said, “you are a mirror”. What she meant is that I do the things I tell people not to do, my actions does not signify my own words. Don’t know if you understand how her statement reflects this or not but trust me; during the event it does. I soon realize how a hypocrite I am. It hit me real hard for one other thing I believe about myself is that I am obedient, to authorities and to myself. Until the Holy Spirit convicted me. Proofed me wrong.

But anyway it felt good after that. Now that I know where the holes are I now can proceed on mending them. I will fix my
