WORDS & THOUGHTS

You Will See the Glory of God

🌟 Remarks

Sometimes it makes me wonder, why do God have to be glorified, yes He is God but what i mean is why seek so much glory? Does that not show a quality of pride and self-confidence? This question has been bothering me for quite a while. It is our natural reflex to ask questions. Questions are unique to humans, no intelligent ape nor mammal have been observed to act out a sense of wonder, all they do is run their natural programming: eat, move, shit, repeat.

But humans arw different, we walk down the street but our mind is wondering why the sky is blue, it turns out to be caused by atmospheric refraction and light wave streching but that’s not the point. The point is that we humans are not only intelligent, we are also curious. Now when questions began to tough religion, many start to redirect the topic to something else but this time let’s continue.

Why do God needs so much glory? Does he want to be glorified? So then why does the bible talks so much about giving glory to God? When i got stuck in an unaswerable question loop, my mind hums the song: “i let go, the need to know why. For you know better than i…” And that is satisfies me for a while until my flesh carried me back in the to and fro of the mind.

Turns out, i am questioning in the wrong way. Even when all questions that have, is and will exist have been answered we could still ask: “why is everything answered”. Using the word why is the wrong approach. So i changed my question to using the rest of the questioning words: “what is glory” and so on.

Glory. When the bible says that our insecurities, our negatives, our weaknesses could glorify God i thought: is this like an abuse or sth? But in fact, no.

Trying to question God is the same as not believing in Him. For God, by definition is all-knowing, allmight and allwhatever. He is omnipotent. When we question Him, we deny that He knows better than we do and that we are nothing compared to His vastness and His depth. We cannot box the Creator of the universe inside the mind of a dot in the universe. We are nothing and are unworthy of questioning Him.

Martha and the others who gathered in front of where Lazarus laid are quite upset that God didn’t heal him earlier but maintained their hope for an act of God. As told in the story, he did revived and that brings glory to God. Either God heals Lazarys before he died or revive him after his death, both would bring glory to the Lord. But ressurection is more powerful than healing in a sense that death, the one true enemy of men, is being defeated right before their eyes.

🌟 Reference

Proverbs 25:2 It is the glory of God to conceal a matter, and it is the glory of a king to search out a matter.

2 Corinthians 4:15 For all these things are for your sake, so that the grace that is including more and more people may cause thanksgiving to increase to the glory of God.

Romans 4:20 (NET) He did not waver in unbelief about the promise of God but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God.

🌟 Relevancy

I finally realized that bringing glory to God is not for Him to be glorified, but rather so that during the process, many men would be saved by believing. In in story, after Lazarus stood back on his feet the crowds believed. And believing is the first step to salvation.

I guess that is the answer to my question or even if it’s not, i am still satisfied and at least it could keep my flesh from keeping on questioning.

Glory. Glorious is
