WORDS & THOUGHTS

The fellowship of prayer

James 5:16 (NKJV) Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.

Pray for cause not for applause, we know that we communitcate to God with various ways one of them being prayer. But the meaning of prayer became diluted as we go on with globalization. Prayer is not about the folding of the hands, the bowing down, the closing of the eyes. Prayer is not what you do that can be seen by others, prayer is what you do that others cannnot see.

We can see people in the streets, praying on carpets, bowing down facing the east, changing from one body position to another, they think they are praying but they cause a lot of traffic (yes i am talking about muslims doing their thing on the street in front of the mosque).

Matthew 6:5-6 (NKJV) “And when you pray, you shall not be like the hypocrites. For they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward. But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.

Prayer speaks about our relationship with our God, a felloship. We can pray anytime we want and God will listen if He knows you, and don’t be upset to know that God don’t actually listen to your prayer, because you simply do not have a relationship with Him.

Matthew 7:22-23 (NKJV) Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’

You may know about God, and He may know about you, just like in Matt 7:22-23. The people prophesied in His name meaning they know many things about Him, and God told them that they practice lawlessness, so God also know about their behaviour. But He never knew them, meaning He never actually had an intimate relationship with those people.

So don’t just know many thing about your God, build a relationship, let Him know you, and pray.
