WORDS & THOUGHTS

The Illumination of Peter

Peter made a mistake, we all do. At that blink of time when Jesus turned and looked at Peter eye to eye. Peter’s whole world seemed like crumbling down, He remembered what Jesus said would happen. Peter forsake Jesus 3 times until the very moment before He died.

Peter didn’t fulfill his promise.

Luke 14:28-30 (NKJV) For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost, whether he has enough to finish it-– lest, after he has laid the foundation, and is not able to finish, all who see it begin to mock him, saying, ‘This man began to build and was not able to finish.’

Peter made a promise he’s not able to complete.

God knows all our doings and actions, He understands all our deeds. So let us not make promises to God about things that we will do, but give thanks to God for all the things he deed and the promises He fulfilled in our life. Have gratitude and merry. Do not declare future events we will do. Do good things and God will notice that.

Psalms 13:3 (NKJV) Consider and hear me, O Lord my God; Enlighten my eyes, Lest I sleep the sleep of death;

John 21:15-18 (NKJV) So when they had eaten breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me more than these?” He said to Him, “Yes, Lord; You know that I love You.” He said to him, “Feed My lambs.” He said to him again a second time, “Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?” He said to Him, “Yes, Lord; You know that I love You.” He said to him, “Tend My sheep.” He said to him the third time, “Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?” Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time, “Do you love Me?” And he said to Him, “Lord, You know all things; You know that I love You.” Jesus said to him, “Feed My sheep. Most assuredly, I say to you, when you were younger, you girded yourself and walked where you wished; but when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and another will gird you and carry you where you do not wish.”

The saddest part of Peter’s forsake of Jesus is probably because Jesus had previously asked peter to tend His sheep, to minister before Him before He will be gone. Then He proceed to talk about being young and free then growing older becoming weary and tired, then being led by someone else.

This forshadow Peter’s forsake of Jesus. Jesus was in good health at that time, He can go around Jerusallem preaching, helping people and blessing them. But now that He is on the cross He relies on people like Peter to do His will, but then Peter forsaked Him …
