WORDS & THOUGHTS

The Capacity to Love Ourselves

๐ŸŒŸ Remarks

The capacity to love oneself and another comes from God for God is the source of love only from Him can we love one another. Loving another and loving oneself is like the power brick and the cable, they go hand in hand and one cannot stand alone without the other. But not hating oneself or another does not mean that we love.

In the bible, the idea of love extends into that love seeks the good of others. Love makes us want to see people happy and well. In this modern era the line between love and lust has blurred so much that loving turned into a deadly sin. Loving is patient, it is kind, it seeks no conflict but instead, peace. Thatโ€™s the first step the devil take to decrease our understanding of love, Godly love, true love.

The world today made it more difficult for us to love one another, not by directly making us hate each other but instead, by making us hate ourselves. The evil one can use many things, like the media to program our mind and plant in us different definitions of true love, migrating our true paradigm.

๐ŸŒŸ Reference

Zechariah 8:17 (UKJV) And let none of you imagine evil in your hearts against his neighbour; and love no false oath: for all these are things that I hate, says the LORD.

Galatians 5:13 For, brethren, all of you have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love (o. agape) serve one another.

Galatians 5:14 For all the law is fulfilled in one word, (o. logos) even in this; You shall love your neighbour as yourself.

๐ŸŒŸ Relevancy

We shall love our neighbour as we love ourselves, so by disdaining ourselves we too will not be able to love another. Loving oneself is not only confidence, it is realozing that we are Godโ€™s amazing creation and understanding how miraculous that is.

Once we understand how wonderful our creation is, we would want to know why and what for are we created. That will lead us to search and dive deep into a life long adventure with God. So when we do not love ourself, not only will we lose the chance of finding who we are, but we will also be unable to build a good and Godly relationship with one another and ultimately with God.

I myself began to love my self when I was, well very little. Never do i find myself hating me or being so jealos of others. My confidence was secured in my talent, my ability to build things. So i couldnโ€™t quite relate to people who hate their own being, it makes no sense at all to me why they do that. If they do not regard their existance as precious then why exist at all. That was my former reaction to people with low self-confidence, quite evil yes I know.

But soon I realize that by doing that I wasnโ€™t loving them, I was not loving one another, then how could I love myself then? How could I love God?
