Receiving Communion

Receiving Communion

John 8:56-58 (NKJV) Your father Abraham rejoiced to see My day, and he saw it and was glad.” Then the Jews said to Him, “You are not yet fifty years old, and have You seen Abraham?” Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM.”

In this story Jesus was testifying to the Jewish religious leaders that He met Abraham, they off coarse got confused because Abraham died a long time ago, but then Jesus continued to say even before Abraham existed He did.

Now if Jesus said He met Abraham then we should be able to find a story in the book of Genesis about Abraham meeting someone that can be Jesus.

Well,

Genesis 14:18-20 Then Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine; he was the priest of God Most High. And he blessed him and said: “Blessed be Abram of God Most High, Possessor of heaven and earth; And blessed be God Most High, Who has delivered your enemies into your hand.” And he gave him a tithe of all.

One day, after defeating multiple kings, Abraham met someone called Melchizedek king of Salem. So who is this guy? He was never mentioned before in the Bible, He seemed to just came out of nowhere, or did He?

King of Salem, the word salem means PEACE in Hebrew. Now who else in the Bible have been called with this title. That’s right, it is Jesus:

Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

So from thay clue in the new testament when Jesus met Abraham in the past and from the other clue in the Old testament that Jesus is and Melchizedek is the King and Prince of peace (practically same thing), we could conclude that Melchizedek might just be another embodiment of God just like Jesus.

But off coarse you guys want more clue, so here it is.

In here:

Hebrews 7:1 For this Melchizedek, king of Salem, priest of the Most High God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings and blessed him,

It was also mentioned that Melchizedek was the priest of God Most High. So if Jesus is also the priest of God most high then we have a very stronh evidence that Jesus is in fact Melchizedek.

Look at Hebrews 6:20 that says:

where the forerunner has entered for us, even Jesus, having become High Priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek.

Boom, we have another very strong evidence that Jesus and Melchizedek is the same.

So now what, it is good to know but what does it has to do with my life and what value can i gain?

By this we are assured that Christ Jesus do receive us His sons to His communion, He invites us as He invites Abraham from whom nations are born, including our nation. Abraham is our father and Abraham had a communion with God, so we too who is not only the children of Abraham but also the Children of Light are accepted to the communion and fellowship as sons of God.
