WORDS & THOUGHTS

A Good Day

The most important thing to notice here is the definition of good, firstly we are not going to define good by our own terms unless our conscience has been joined to the Holy Spirit, but rather we are going to let God define what is good.

So let’s see what the bible says about what is good and what is not.

Many times in genesis the Lord says that something is good, usually His creation, like the light, the creatures that roam the land, the fishes, etc. And He also mentioned what is not good, like man being alone is not good.

In other parts of the bible we also see more definition of good. Like when a woman is beautiful (Gen6:2), or a good land (Deu1:35), a tree (Mat19:17), or a wine (John 2:10).

These are all good according to the bible, but they don’t really have anything to do to us don’t they except being God’s provision to us here on Earth. God’s goodness many times was prasied in the book of Psalms and God’s good is not only good in general. It is actually an action of God towards us. So good isn’t only what’s not bad, but what God does to us, that is goodness.

And according to the bible, Men’s goodness was then modeled after the goodness of God.

Matthew 5:48 (NKJV) Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.

So when we are talking about a good day, we might be referring to the act of modeling God’s values in our daily life, which the world is truly against. A good day may not be so good if observed from the perspective of men, but doing God’s will is good, it is the true good, having the Lord that is being good to us and we in turn does good to fulfill His good will is a healthy and good recipe for a good
